In Thailand, similar to other countries across the region, returnable glass bottles play a significant role in the beverage value chain. Returnable glass bottles also make up a large part of ThaiNamthip’s diverse packaging mix. As a critical factor, the company was committed to achieving the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, while improving resource efficiency and supporting its sustainability goals. ThaiNamthip has adopted Swire Coca-Cola’s sustainability strategy, of ‘Our Choice, Our Future!’, and is streamlined into three key pillars: planet, product and people.
ThaiNamthip installed Sidel’s Hydra Ultrasonic bottle washer at its Pathum Thani manufacturing plant in Thailand. The site serves as centre of excellence for returnable glass bottle production. Through combining traditional washing methods with ultrasonic technology, this system enhances cleaning performance on both the exterior and interior of bottles, while reducing material usage.
Hydra Ultrasonic reduces reject rates, supports higher production outputs and improves operational efficiency. This technology can deliver up to 15% in water savings, around 20% steam reduction, as well as a lower chemical consumption. This combination is helping ThaiNamthip to reduce its environmental footprint, while still maintaining a high product quality. This project highlights both companies’ shared commitment to driving industrial solutions that combine performance and sustainability.
